Resumen
Se presenta un caso de encefalitis del tallo cerebral de Bickerstaff. Se trata de una niña de 12 años de edad, quien fue atendida en el Hospital Universitario Erasmo Meoz de la ciudad de Cúcuta, por presentar oftalmoplejía, ataxia y arreflexia, después de una infección de las vías respiratorias altas. La evolución de esta paciente fue satisfactoria.
Se hace una revisión del caso y de los síndromes asociados a anticuerpos antigangliósidos. Se pone en evidencia la necesidad de implementar en nuestro país técnicas para determinar estos anticuerpos, hecho que ayudaría al diagnóstico y tratamiento de nuestros pacientes.
