Abstract
Medical residency is one of the most intense stages of professional life. It requires long hours, rigorous clinical training, and constant adaptation. However, it is also the most fertile time to sow the seeds of research. Publishing during residency should not be seen as an added burden, but rather as a means of transforming practice into knowledge and projecting the resident as a protagonist in scientific dialogue.
Publishing is, in itself, a formative act. It forces us to critically review scientific evidence, synthesize clinical experience, and communicate it rigorously, giving visibility to local findings and participating in the international dialogue on neurology. In countries such as Colombia, where there is still a gap in scientific production, manuscripts published during residency make the diversity of our epidemiology visible and strengthen the research capacity of institutions, positioning residents as active actors in the construction of knowledge.
