Abstract
Our Board of Directors was elected during the X Pan-American Congress of Neurology held in Cartagena, in October 1999, at the convention center.
Our headquarters operated at that time in the office of the Colombian Association of Rheumatology on 94th Street, we worked in parallel between the daily chores of the same, which made us perceived abroad as a modest appendix of the Association, which blurred our institutionalism. From the beginning of our administration, accompanied by that proactive and visionary board of directors, policies were systematically designed to organize the Association to be self-sustainable, inclusive, giving importance and voice to all its members without distinction of training or academic linkage in particular, geographical area of exercise or other accompanying characteristic. It was intended and achieved to exercise an academic leadership in the Neurological Sciences for its members and peer institutions, promoting, developing and disseminating (publications, symposia, courses) neurological knowledge developed by its active members.
