Resumen
Las investigaciones de los últimos años han valorado a la depresión como un signo prodrómico para el desarrollo y presentación del síndrome demencial, especialmente en personas mayores de 55 años. Se ha considerado que el deterioro cognitivo es mayor cuando el paciente ha presentado episodios depresivos, convirtiéndose estos en factor de riesgo. El presente artículo considera los aspectos que correlacionan a la depresión como un pródromo del síndrome demencial.
