Abstract
Numerous neuropathological studies have confirmed that focal cortical dysplasia is different from other malformations of the cortical development. In 1995, Mischel and col, defined focal cortical dysplasia, from the histological point of view as the cortical disorganization of the lamination and the presence of dysplatics neurons, in ball and heterotopics neurons in the subcortical white substance. Different authors have wanted to see a relation between focal cortical dysplasia and tuberous sclerosis, has been gotten to say that first it is a frustrate form of the second. Several classifications of the cortical manifestations of dysplasia have been proposed, today we identify three subtypes based on the neurophatologic findings: architectural and cytoarchitectural dysplasias and Taylor’s focal cortical dysplasia. Hemiparesis and cognitive deficit are clinical characteristics in patients with cortical dysplasias. For some authors, FLAIR is the most sensible neuroimage to detect cortical dysplasia.
