Abstract

Migraine is perhaps the most frequent reason for consulting the neurologist. Its prevalence is higher in women between the second and fourth decades, which is the period of greatest productivity.

The pain in migraine is usually disabling, and for this reason it has a big impact on the quality of life; it produces labor and school absenteeism, and it interferes with family relationships. There is a need for greater emphasis on migraine in undergraduate studies in medicine, to train the general practitioners in diagnosing and treating this disorder.

There are many instruments to measure the impact of migraine in the life of the patients, such as MIDAS questionaire.
