Abstract
This paper presented the neuropsychology assessment strategies for the differential diagnosis between normal and pathological aging (dementia). It has been suggested that Alzheimer’s disease (AD) may begin as mild cognitive impairment (MCI). There are different subtypes of MCI, but only some of them results in EA. It is emphasized that there are two cognitive assessment strategies: screening tests and extensive evaluations. Here are the principal neuropsychological tests for one and another and identifies the adjustments available in Spanish.
Despite the advances in conceptualization and neuropsychological diagnosis of aging, it is estimated that more than 50% of dementia cases are not diagnosed at an early stage.
